Suppositories for vitamins, minerals and amino acids/protein were originally developed for patients that had undergone weight loss surgery (Gastric Bypass Surgery). A large percentage of these patients experienced significant metabolic problems secondary to the inhibition caloric absorption by also blocking adequate nutrient absorption. Over time, they experience one or more of the follow deficiencies which may include: Vitamin B, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, Calcium, Iron, Trace minerals (chromium, zinc) and Protein. Often, these patients require weekly injections and sometime hospitalization to undergo the intravenous infusion of nutrients (especially iron). Both procedures are uncomfortable and not without risks.
